My latest web project has been to create a WordPress theme for Jo, for her new crisis management blog. Jo specifically wanted it to co-ordinate with her new website, Amethyst Communications so I used similar colours, styles and images.
It was quite an interesting project, building a new theme and one I’ve obviously replicated with my own blog. You start with the default and edit the sections.
Because of the complexity of WordPress it was quite a daunting thing to start with and my plan soon is to create a bare bones structure and template that I can modify for future customers. Although the default in WordPress looks simple, there is a lot of redundancy I don’t have a need for and it would be much simpler to just strip it out.
Once I’d made all the changes, I just needed to ftp into the domain and download all the files. I then zipped them up in a folder to create an installable WordPress Theme.
